Nepal Tourism Board, Himalayan Bank Limited and American Express have jointly launched 'Experience Nepal' campaign targeting the Visit Nepal Year 2020. The main objective of the campaign is to inform the American Express Card users about Nepal's natural beauty, uniqueness and diversity, thereby encouraging them to visit Nepal.
Himalaya Expedition is to organise 17th edition of the 'Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon' from May 29. At a news conference organised here today, it was informed that the marathon would begin from the base camp of the Mt Everest and conclude after reaching Namchebazaar. More than 200 athletes including 155 foreigners would participate in the marathon.

A 49-year-old Sherpa set a new record of the most summits of Everest by breaking his own previous records. Kami Rita Sherpa, who originally is from Thame of Solukhmbu district, scaled the highest mountain in the world at 7: 50 am today from Nepal’s side.
Spring expedition to Everest has begun with eight Nepali climbers completing the works of rope-fixing along the climbing route. The group reached the top of the world’s highest peak measuring 8,848 meters at 1:45 pm, fixing the climbing ropes successfully which marks the first ascent of the season to the peak.

An ultra-light aircraft, Gyrocoptor, has crashed at Pokhara airport at 1.45 pm today. The ultra-light craft crashed as it overshot the runway while landing. The gyrocoptor had landed after taking a tourist for a sight-seeing around Pokhara city, said Kashinath Poudel, the administrative officer at the Pokhara airport.

Domestic flights taking place from the Tribhuvan International Airport were suspended today due to adverse weather. Some inbound airplanes of international flight were also asked to hold, TIA office has stated. Eight hundred and twenty-four climbers belonging to 100 mountaineering expedition teams have taken permission to climb 27 mountain peaks, including Sagarmatha (Mt Everest), the world's highest peak, in this Spring climbing season, the Department of Tourism has stated. Among these climbers, 377 climbers of 39 teams have taken permission to climb Sagarmatha.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended the licence of Captain of Nepal Airlines Corporation Bijaya Lama. Captain Lama faced action as his clarification relating to the cancellation of NAC's April 2 night's ready-to-take-off flight to Dubai was not satisfactory, said a CAAN's official.
