A meeting of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN) under the orders of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has been authorized to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) as well as a Detailed Feasibility Study (DFS) of the Naagdhunga-Koteshwor-Dhulikhel railway project.
The Chief Executive Office of IBN, Maha Prasad Adhikari said that IBN will be taking responsibility for the process of DPR and DFS of the railway project, reports The Himalayan Times.
These 2 studies that are going to be done is for a suggested construction of a 79 Kilometre railway in Kathmandu which will have a total cost of 316 billion NPR. The budget for FY 2016-17 was supposed to be put on the preparation of the DPR for the railway.
“IBN has been given the task of conducting DPR and DFS of the Naagdhunga-Koteshwor-Dhulikhel railway and we will soon start working in the bidding process for the project and hire a capable consultant to carry both DPR and DFS of the project”
IBN reportedly will start looking for a consultant for the railway project and they estimate that the hiring process should be completed within one year. Which may seem like a long time but a 316 billion NPR project is bound to take time either way.
