Nepali movies are admirably coping with resources for a high quality screenplay and cinematography. Recently, there has been a buzz of high budgeted movie in Nepal and fortunately, some of them have managed to attract viewers in theaters.  But, it’s a high pointed dilemma for producers whether a box office collection can exceed the production cost of movie.

Here’s a list of high budgeted movie of Nepal

  1. Prem Geet

A romantic comedy movie starring Pradeep khadka and pooja Sharma broke down cliché of typical romantic storylines. The movie was invested with 13 million and accumulated 40 million worldwide.

  1. A Mero Hajur 2

It’s a franchise of A Mero Hajur, produced by Jharana Thapa with a budget of 15 million. The movie is a romantic drama featuring Salin Man Baniya and Samragyee Rajya laxmi Shah.  It maintained a calibre of excellent cinematography in its title song; no wonder its one of the high budget movie of Nepal.

  1. Pare Ni Maya jalaima

An award winning movie for Best screenplay, Pare Ni Maya Jalaima featured Dilip Rayamajhi, Jharana Bajracharya and Uttam Pradhan in the lead role. Most of the location was filmed in Honkong and it invested an amount of 18 million.

  1. Kalo Pothi

Kalo Pothi allotted 30 million and n return it earned critical acclaim from the spectators.  A simple story of two boys rebounding on a Maoist invasion and caste contradiction pulled in the different curtains in the history of Nepali cinema.

  1. Love Love love

It’s another high budgeted movie with 50 million investments, produced by Sharmila Pandey. The movie cast Swastima khadka and Suraj Pandey in the lead roles. It is a tale of love and chase between two indifferent personalities and induces curiosity among viewers whether they will bind to love one another.

  1. Bagmati

A professional filmmaker team collaborated with each other and produced a top quality movie Bagmati accompanied by an investment of 50 million. It featured Rajesh Hamal, Shiva Shrestha, keki Adhikari, Mukunda Shrestha, Dhruva koirala and Kanchan Thakuri. The movie is primarily spent on losing beauty of Bagmati within the inhumane civilization.


  1. Dipendra Sarkar

After a successful franchise of Prem Geet, Santosh Sen is set to construct a tale of Late King Dipendra into a movie. 60 million is said to be an entire investment of Dipendra Sarkar and it will feature Pradeep Khadka in main lead. The movie is grounded on the book called Maile Dekheko Darbar, incorporating the lifestyle of Royal bloods.
