Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (kimff) is going to commence its adventurous tales on December 14th to December 18th. 76 movies around the globe are set to be screened at QFX kumari, Kamalpokhari.
Movies are based on mountaineering, adventure on highlands, cultural relics of mountain residencies, ancient lifestyles, wildlife, migration, environmental and conservation issues flaming on communities of mountains. 76 movies can be documentaries, experimental films, short movies, animation and fictions. Kimff will feature 15 films in its international competition and 48 films in the non-competitive section. The “Nepal Panorama” showcase will screen 15 exciting films, both documentary and narrative, by local filmmakers.
Asian Premiere of The Last Honey Hunter (dir Ben Knight), a film from Nepal will inaugurate the festival mood. It’s a deep insight on Himalayan culture and its losing trend. The festival is also related with bounty prizes for international competition of fiction film as well as non fiction films. The top film from an International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) member country, will receive The Best ICIMOD Mountain Film award with the US $1000.
